Joe is a talented didjeridu craftsman from the Murrungun clan. His country is in Renyngur (Nangalala). He's the the son of Djanggubali, one of the great leaders of the Murrungun. This didjeridu or Wuyumbal, as it is called in the Djinang language, has been painted with the ceremonial body paint of the clan. The bore is completely natural from top to bottom - the ends have just been sawn off. A thin-walled, lightweight instrument with instant responsiveness. Surprisingly loud. Lush bass. A very lively voice with bright accents. An instrument that really seems to play itself: the most subtle changes in pressure or lip tension create dramatic differences in the sound. A truly wonderful wuyumbal. MP3 |
